Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the situation in Ukraine's Kharkiv region and the status of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Commander-in-Chief, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi. Ukraine's Deep State war monitoring service confirmed that Russian forces seized the hamlet of Tabaivka, moving closer to the Oskil river, which could force Ukrainian troops to retreat. Russian forces are also trying to advance toward Pishchane. However, Ukrainian Armed Forces Spokesman Volodymyr Fityo and the Kyiv Independent refuted claims that Tabaivka was captured, stating that battles are ongoing. Amidst these developments, rumors circulated about Zaluzhnyi's dismissal, with reports of a presidential order signed for his removal and his high approval rates among Ukrainians. Ukrainian journalist Yurii Butusov suggested that President Zelenskiy was consulting foreign partners before making an official announcement. Nevertheless, Zelenskiy's office and the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense have denied these claims, and the situation remains unclear as official statements and denials continue to surface. Calls for action from the US and EU have been made in light of the escalating situation.
NEW | Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, January 29, 2024: The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense (MoD) denied rumors about the purported resignation or dismissal of Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief General Valerii Zaluzhnyi on January 29. 1/4 ⬇️ https://t.co/qMYawApQcM
I cannot compete with inside sources of @olliecarroll or other excellent reporters on "Zaluzhny's dismissal", but want to add some perspective. Political leaders do appoint and dismiss military leaders, including during wars. This happened to all Allied armies in World War II,… https://t.co/AQd0WTDfd0
Ukraine refutes Russia's claim to have captured Tabaivka village near Kupiansk; Contradicting reports point at dismissal of Zaluzhnyi as top commander; Zelensky's office denies it; and more. https://t.co/1jwh9ADnV8
I'll consider leaving this to stew after this, but using Zelensky's official denial as proof of the Zalushnyi rumours being "fake", falls very flat to me. It's not like politicians have ever denied rumours that later turn out to be true. https://t.co/t3OPG2fyJX https://t.co/IGeIz0qXQy
I'll consider leaving this thing to stew after this, but using Zelensky's official denial as "proof" of the Zalushnyi rumours being "fake" is questionable. It's not like any politician has ever denied harmful rumours even if the rumours are largely true. https://t.co/t3OPG2fyJX https://t.co/AuWWsH7znf
I Deleted my Post regarding the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valery Zaluzhny because I didn’t like the way that it sounded and I think it may be best to just wait for an Official Announcement.

So as it stands it seems that the official denials on Zalushnyi sacking could either be real or damage control after backing out of doing it due to backlash. I'm still personally waiting on Zalushnyi's statement, although if this was a reverse ferret he likely won't say much.
Wow, it’s being reported that Zaluzhny has been removed from his post. I thought he’d stick around until the fall of Avdiivka, and then be scapegoated for that.
So, where we are: Zaluzhny and Zelensky met tonight. Sources close to Zaluzhny + other top government sources told me they believed firing would happen tonight. The presidential order has not been signed. There has been huge outrage about rumoured plans. There may be walk back. https://t.co/YtC1kdaDU1
I know the Ukrainian MoD has denied the rumours, but I'm not fully convinced that nothing is going on before Zalushnyi himself takes some kind of a stance on this.
Zelenskiy hasn’t dismissed Ukraine’s army chief, a presidential spokesman said, ending an evening of speculation that the popular general had been fired https://t.co/yRjmFgTMVX
Rumors about the replacement of the current commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army have been circulating for months, if not a year. This may happen sooner or later. There is political dissatisfaction with the military leadership
Now former President Poroshenko is chiming in and calling on Zelensky to say directly that he hasn’t fired Zaluzhny and won’t fire Zaluzhny and will rescind any orders to fire him if it did sign them. Poroshenko says he’s in Brussels, and everyone is shocked by the rumors. https://t.co/zUHGTPcPW2
Whatever the truth of the rumoured Zalushnyi sacking, what we are seeing and experiencing right now is the sewage of Ukrainian internal tensions leaking over. If it's true it's the Presidential office-Zalushnyi tensions spilling over, if not it was leaked with malicious intent.
⚡️Ukrainian President #Zelensky, in his daily video address, has not commented on claims made by several politicians and journalists regarding the alleged dismissal of the Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, #Zaluzhny.
And in fact, Zelensky’s spokesman officially denied that Zaluzhny is being fired. Everybody calm down and carry on. https://t.co/4Y1GhhpHdn
The spokesperson for @ZelenskyyUa denies that he has sacked Zaluzhny @CinC_AFU. But there is clearly a major row going on in Kyiv.
As the Zelensky vs. Zaluzhny saga is in the headlines once more (there's no confirmation of Zaluzhny resigning), we should take a look at the activisation of the political sphere in Ukraine at this stage of the war.
The presidential office also dismisses the claim regarding General Zaluzhny's dismissal. I hope they've seen the overall reaction tho.
Ukrainian TV is openly discussing the resignation of Zaluzhny. https://t.co/ULNWnym93O

If you ask me, the dismissal of General Zaluzhny would be, of course, a massive shot not only in the leg but also in the head, right there. Zaluzhny has his reputation as an iron general and the national Salvator, the embodiment of the Ukrainian armed forces that saved this…
🇺🇸🇺🇦‼️🚨 Resident: The Americas called and vetoed the resignation. Resident: Our sources report that Zelensky is now communicating with the State Department, before that there were negotiations with the Pentagon, the Americans are fundamentally against Zaluzhny’s resignation. https://t.co/kpAmxyEvZY

A poll by Kyiv’s Rating Group conducted in November showed that 42 per cent of voters would vote for Zelenskiy, while 40 per cent said they would vote for Zaluzhny.
