A Russian disinformation group has been identified as targeting foreign fighters in Ukraine by posing as former President Petro Poroshenko. The group, which previously targeted Bill Browder with a similar scam last year, used a deepfake of Poroshenko in an attempt to extract sensitive information from Ukrainian soldiers and to discredit them by soliciting support for a non-existent coup. This campaign was reported as an exclusive by the Kyiv Independent, which is also investigating scam calls made by the perpetrator to foreign fighters.
