Ukraine's attempts to repatriate the bodies of prisoners of war (POWs) allegedly killed in the downing of a Russian Il-76 military transport plane have been met with silence from Russia. Despite the crash occurring on January 24, none of the Ukrainian prisoners returned in an exchange on January 31 were on the list for the planned exchange that was supposed to take place on that day, according to Andriy Yusov, the spokesman for Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate. Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia will not stop prisoner swaps with Ukraine over the Il-76 crash. However, Russia has not responded to Ukraine's appeals to return the bodies of the POWs they claim were killed in the crash.

For all its bluster about an investigation into the crash, Russia is apparently ignoring Ukraine’s requests to return the POWs Moscow says were killed when a Russian military transport plane was shot down outside Belgorod on Jan. 24. Most suspicious. https://t.co/GvRmOZ6lNa
