Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has approved the training of Ukrainian military personnel in Romania, including teaching them to use F-16 planes at the military base in Fetești. The training will involve dozens of soldiers and also includes military transports destined for Ukraine. Additionally, Romania is set to become home to the largest NATO base in Europe, accommodating 10,000 troops and their families, in close proximity to the conflict in southern Ukraine. The base is part of a $2.5 billion project. President Iohannis has also agreed to transport weapons donated by Finland for Ukraine through Romanian territory and to train Ukrainian pilots and ground personnel on the F-16 at the European F-16 Training Center at the Fetesti air base. The government has allocated an additional 5 billion hryvnias for the purchase of drones for Ukraine's military.
