Hungary's Orban Opposes EU Membership Talks with Ukraine, Blocks 500M Euro Aid, Cites Transcarpathian Hungarians, EU's 50B Euro Plan B

Orban stated that the EU must not commence accession talks with Ukraine, emphasizing Hungary's clear stance on the issue. Additionally, Hungary has blocked the transfer of 500 million euros of EU military aid to Ukraine, citing concerns about the rights of Transcarpathian Hungarians and the involvement of Hungarian firms in the war. The Hungarian government also plans to consult its citizens on their support for Ukraine's EU membership. The European Union has considered a 'plan B' to work around any Hungarian veto and provide Ukraine with 50 billion euros in aid if necessary.
