Robertson Stops Rodriguez in Round 2 at UFC Des Moines, Ties Women’s Finish Record as Rodriguez Retires

Canadian strawweight Gillian Robertson defeated Brazil’s Marina Rodriguez by technical knockout at 2:07 of the second round on Saturday at UFC Des Moines in Iowa.

The dominant ground-and-pound victory is Robertson’s 13th in the promotion and her 10th finish, tying former champion Amanda Nunes for the most finishes in UFC women’s history. The result extended her winning streak to four bouts and improved her record to 5-1 since dropping to strawweight.

Rodriguez announced her retirement immediately after the fight, leaving the Octagon with a seven-year résumé that includes a 7-6-2 mark under the UFC banner.

Robertson used her post-fight interview to ask for a match-up with former title challenger Amanda Lemos. The UFC has not yet confirmed subsequent bookings.
