Baykar’s AI-Guided KEMANKEŞ Missile Scores Direct Hit in AKINCI Test

Turkish drone maker Baykar said its KEMANKEŞ 1 mini cruise missile hit a land target with pinpoint accuracy in a live-fire trial carried out on 4 July. A Bayraktar AKINCI unmanned combat aircraft took off from Çorlu carrying two of the jet-powered munitions, which flew a programmed cruise profile, dived and struck the designated point under artificial-intelligence optical guidance.

The company noted that KEMANKEŞ 1 can engage objectives more than 200 kilometres away, loiter for over 30 minutes and resist electronic jamming. The weapon is designed to arm AKINCI as well as Baykar’s TB2 and carrier-capable TB3 drones, broadening the range of precision-strike options available to the Turkish armed forces.

Baykar also reported that the Bayraktar TB3 has now completed 170 take-off and landing sorties from the amphibious assault ship TCG Anadolu, including night operations carried out with an automated, artificial-intelligence-assisted control system.

In a separate development, the Gendarmerie Aviation Command inducted its 14th T129 ATAK attack helicopter, tail-number J-1924. The latest aircraft is the first fitted with Aselsan’s new ASELFLIR-410 electro-optical sensor and a domestically produced nose cannon built by TR Mekatronik, further localising the platform’s combat systems.
