Trump-Appointed Aaron Reitz Resigns as DOJ Policy Head to Run for Texas Attorney General, Succeeding Ken Paxton

Reitz resigned from his Trump-appointed position as head of the Justice Department’s policy office in early June 2025 to pursue the open-seat race to succeed Ken Paxton. Prior to his DOJ role, Reitz served as an aide to Texas politicians Ted Cruz and Ken Paxton. He has positioned himself as a conservative candidate committed to fighting for Texas and the broader conservative cause, emphasizing his readiness to take on the responsibilities of attorney general from day one.
