Hundreds of couples, including Texas parents, who were trying to have babies via surrogacy allege that Surrogacy Escrow Account Management LLC (SEAM) defrauded them out of millions of dollars. A recent lawsuit accuses SEAM of stealing more than $10 million set aside in escrow accounts by expecting parents for their gestational surrogates. Complaints from surrogates and expecting parents about the Houston-based financial firm and its owner were referred to the FBI after the firm stopped responding to clients in mid-June. Marianne Robak and Lori Hood, partners at Shackelford Law, represent the named plaintiff in the lawsuit.
