Fire at Texas Tire Recycler Closes Highway 29, Triggers Evacuations

A fire erupted Monday afternoon at Reliable Tire Recycling on the 3300 block of East State Highway 29 in Burnet County, Texas, sending thick black smoke across the area and forcing authorities to shut the highway in both directions.

The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office said emergency crews ordered limited evacuations of nearby structures as a precaution. The Burnet Fire Department is leading the response and reported no injuries as of Monday evening.

Drivers have been asked to avoid the corridor while firefighters work to contain the blaze. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and officials said the investigation will begin once the site is safe to enter.
