A series of coordinated efforts across various organizations and political leaders are underway to push for expanded immigrant rights and protections in the United States. Notably, over 400 organizations, including civil rights groups, immigrant advocates, and labor unions, have issued a joint letter to President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas urging the expansion of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to Central America and Nepal. Additionally, Representative Yvette Clarke, alongside Haiti Caucus Co-Chairs Representatives Pressley and CongresswomanSC, and 50 other colleagues, has called on the Biden Administration to extend safeguards for Haitian migrants and provide additional humanitarian assistance to Haiti. These actions coincide with upcoming events marking International Workers Day on May 1st, where advocates will demand dignity, respect, and work permits for all essential immigrant workers.
