Taylor Fritz, the last American man standing, prevailed over Thanasi Kokkinakis in a marathon match lasting just under four hours to secure a place in the fourth round of the French Open. Fritz faced Casper Ruud, the 2022 and 2023 runner-up, in the next round. Ruud, who has been finding his form again in Paris, rallied from 1-5 down in the tiebreak to defeat Fritz 7-6(6), 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Fritz struggled with a left hip issue during the match. With this victory, Ruud advanced to his third consecutive quarter-final at Roland Garros. He is set to face Novak Djokovic in a rematch of the 2023 final, where Ruud previously beat Djokovic in Monte-Carlo.

Taylor Fritz won the match, and a place in the fourth round. Thanasi Kokkinakis won some serious respect and plenty of hearts after that run of 5-set marathons. Fritz vs. Ruud or Etcheverry in the last 16. They’re level at a set all. #RolandGarros
