Carlos Alcaraz moved into the Wimbledon fourth round with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff on Friday, surviving a barrage of 13 aces from the world No. 125 to close out the match in two hours 25 minutes on Centre Court.
The victory extends the Spaniard’s unbeaten run to 21 matches—17 of them at the All England Club—and keeps alive his bid for a third consecutive Wimbledon crown. Alcaraz, 22, will face 14th-seeded Andrey Rublev in Sunday’s last-16 encounter.
Alcaraz’s title defence began with a four-hour 37-minute escape against 38-year-old Fabio Fognini and steadied with a straight-sets defeat of British qualifier Oliver Tarvet. He arrived in London after lifting his second Queen’s Club trophy on 22 June, defeating Jiri Lehecka 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-2 for his fifth title of the season and 21st overall.
