Toyota is close to being able to manufacture next-generation solid-state batteries for electric vehicles at the same rate as existing batteries, marking a milestone in the race to commercialize the technology. The new battery is expected to provide a range of around 1,200km, which is about twice that of many existing models, and can be recharged in around ten minutes. If successful, Toyota's electric cars powered by solid-state batteries could have a range more than twice that of its current EVs.
