Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered fighter jets armed with hypersonic missiles to begin round-the-clock patrols over the Black Sea, escalating tensions with the United States. This comes in response to the deployment of two American aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean Sea. The Russian Aerospace Forces will now constantly patrol the neutral zone of the airspace over the Black Sea with MiG-31 fighter-interceptors. Putin emphasized that this move is not a threat but a regular security measure. The increased military presence in the region raises concerns about a potential escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Something for Washington to think about: Perhaps just a coincidence but Russia aerospace forces are now located permanently in the neutral zone of the Black Sea armed with Kinzhal missiles which means hypothetically they are in range to hit the US carrier strike groups.
