Kamala Harris Announces U.S. AI Safety Institute at UK Summit with China, 28 Countries Signing Bletchley Declaration; UK and US to Establish National AI Safety Institutes

Vice President Kamala Harris announced the creation of the U.S. AI Safety Institute at the UK AI Security Summit. The UK hosted the inaugural summit on AI safeguards, with China also in attendance. The US, China, and 26 other nations agreed to protect against the potential harm of AI at the summit. The governments of 28 countries and the European Union signed a declaration on global cooperation in artificial intelligence, known as the Bletchley Declaration. The UK and the US also announced plans to establish national AI safety institutes.
