HMD Global Becomes First Major Smartphone Company to Manufacture 5G Phones in Europe

HMD Global, the owner of the Nokia brand, has started manufacturing 5G smartphones in Europe. The company claims to be the first major global smartphone company to bring manufacturing to the EU. The new Nokia XR21 5G phone is designed for enterprise customers and is being manufactured in Hungary. HMD Global signed an exclusive 10-year licensing agreement with Nokia in 2016 to make Nokia-branded smartphones and tablets. This move comes as several European countries have put restrictions on Huawei's 5G equipment.
