Google, Amazon, and Cloudflare have successfully mitigated against the largest distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks ever recorded. The attacks exploited a newly uncovered HTTP/2 vulnerability, dubbed 'Rapid Reset,' which allowed for DDoS attacks far beyond any previously seen. The attacks flooded websites and applications with over 155 million requests per second. The HTTP/2 Rapid Reset flaw requires patching every web server to eradicate the problem. Cisco has also disclosed a 'critical' zero-day vulnerability in its IOS XE software that is under active exploitation.
