Figma has recently introduced new features including typography and gradient variables, and a functionality allowing developers to write code directly in the design tool. This update, which includes variables for typography, is seen as a significant advancement for design systems, with the potential to integrate Figma properties directly into programming languages like Swift. The development community has reacted positively, noting the long-awaited nature of these features, including typographic and gradient variables, and the effort involved in their implementation. Feedback is encouraged as Figma continues to evolve its capabilities.
Figma wins the future of software development
Super excited to see what y'all do with the stuff @figma announced yesterday! Typography and gradient variables are obviously long awaited, but I'm mostly curious to see how you use Code Connect. What did y'all think? LMK if you have any questions! https://t.co/oLqnx7Fhpt
my first thought when I saw @figma's sidebar showing component code was, "I really hope they add a way for devs to write the code that's displayed there" — and today they launched that functionality! watch Jake give us a whirlwind tour of how it works https://t.co/81dfbXZovm
This is a major milestone on our way to supporting custom design systems in @v0 https://t.co/V4VIqSM3JO
Still lots to do here / this is just the start, but I suspect this might be one of the most meaningful announcements we’ve shared at Figma. Looking forward to everyone’s feedback! https://t.co/8caq85lQFF
Figma is about to become a programming language use figma props directly in swift??? Whoa this is cool https://t.co/2Yt38Tu1hj https://t.co/FcEC76T4x5
one small step for figma, one giant leap for design systems https://t.co/BRt22tOUcE
Huge shout out to the entire team who worked on this. Was a massive effort! Would love any feedback you all have when using typographic & gradient variables. https://t.co/vvxoS0Q5K1
The introduction of @figma Variables for typography is a very welcome addition. We've helped lots of teams with their token architecture and lack of typography tokens have been a big pain point. Hooray!
