Epic Games, the maker of the popular game Fortnite, is laying off approximately 16% of its workforce, which amounts to around 830 employees. The company is also selling its music store and community platform, Bandcamp. The layoffs were announced in a staff memo and are part of an effort to cut costs. Epic Games CEO, Tim Sweeney, stated that the layoffs were necessary to stabilize the company's finances, as it was spending more than it was earning. The layoffs come amidst a wave of job cuts in the video game industry.
