Trump and Starmer Unveil US-UK Trade Deal: Car Tariffs Cut, Steel Duties Lifted, Beef Access Granted

U.S. President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer have announced a new trade deal between the two nations. Under the deal, the U.S. will reduce tariffs on British cars from 27.5% to 10% for the first 100,000 vehicles exported annually, and eliminate tariffs on UK steel and aluminum exports. This move is expected to save thousands of jobs in the UK's automobile and steel industries, including at Jaguar Land Rover in Solihull. Additionally, the agreement includes new market access for British farmers, allowing them to export 13,000 tonnes of beef to the U.S. without tariffs, and removes tariffs on U.S. ethanol entering the UK. The trade deal also addresses the special relationship between the U.S. and the UK, with both leaders emphasizing the strong bond between the two nations. President Trump praised the deal as a 'full' trade pact, while Starmer highlighted its importance in protecting and creating jobs, particularly in the tech sector. The announcement coincided with VE Day celebrations.
