Robinhood Markets Inc. has launched a new feature within its app called the Prediction Markets Hub, allowing US retail traders to bet on the outcomes of various events. The hub, developed in partnership with KalshiEX LLC, a CFTC regulated exchange, enables trading on contracts related to the Federal Reserve's target fed funds rate for May and the outcomes of the men's and women's College Basketball Tournaments. JB Mackenzie, VP & GM of Futures and International at Robinhood, stated that the company believes in the power of prediction markets and their role at the intersection of news, economics, politics, sports, and culture. The Prediction Markets Hub, operated by Robinhood Derivatives, LLC, will roll out contracts immediately, with availability to all eligible customers in the coming days. Trading hours for the College Basketball Tournament and target fed fund rate event contracts are set from 8:00am ET until 3:00am ET daily. This move by Robinhood expands its offerings into event-based trading, potentially impacting the landscape of sports betting and other event-based markets. The hub is available across the US, except in Nevada, and operates within the existing regulatory framework.
