Paramount Pictures and Miramax have released the first trailer for “Roofman,” the upcoming crime-comedy from “Blue Valentine” director Derek Cianfrance. The film, Cianfrance’s first feature in nearly a decade, stars Channing Tatum, Kirsten Dunst and Peter Dinklage and will open in U.S. theaters on Oct. 10, 2025.
Tatum plays Jeffrey Manchester, an Army Ranger–turned–serial robber who escaped a North Carolina prison in 2004, hid for six months inside a Toys “R” Us and financed his life by breaking into more than 60 McDonald’s restaurants through their roofs—an audacious spree that earned him the nickname “Roofman.” The story follows Manchester’s double life as he falls for a Toy Store employee (Dunst) while planning one final heist that threatens his chance at redemption.
Co-written by Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn, the film is produced by Lynette Howell Taylor, Jamie Patricof, Duncan Montgomery and Dylan Sellers, with Tatum and Cianfrance among the executive producers. Paramount is handling domestic distribution under its first-look deal with Miramax; FilmNation managed international sales.
