Alabama put Gregory Hunt, 65, to death by nitrogen gas on Tuesday evening at the Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore. The inmate was pronounced dead shortly after 6 p.m., according to local media reports, in what officials said was the nation’s sixth execution carried out with the relatively new nitrogen hypoxia method.
Hunt had been on death row for more than three decades after being convicted of beating a woman to death in Walker County in 1988. His case became one of the first to test Alabama’s nitrogen gas protocol, which the state adopted as an alternative to lethal injection. Tuesday’s execution proceeds despite ongoing legal and ethical debates over the method’s humaneness.

Linde, a global industrial gas supplier and parent company of Praxair, is constructing a new air separation plant on a 72-acre site at the North Brownsville Industrial Park in Texas. This facility will supply SpaceX's Starbase with essential industrial gases, including liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen, to support its rocket launch operations. The plant is located at 7245 Industrial Circle, Lot 6, in Brownsville and is expected to enhance the propellant supply chain for Starbase, which is SpaceX's launch site near the city. Meanwhile, at Giga Texas, SpaceX's manufacturing facility, construction activities continue with the installation of two large aluminum bath tipping machines for the casting section, supporting recycling and casting processes. Additional developments at Giga Texas include work on the Cortex 2 facility's walls and roof, the new southwest entrance, caisson work, and underground vault construction for the switchyard. A small employee car show was also held on the roof of the parking garage at Giga Texas.
