Formula One and its governing body, the FIA, have adjusted the 2026 championship schedule, shifting the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku to Saturday, 26 September. The date was brought forward by one day at the request of local organisers to avoid a clash with the country’s Remembrance Day on 27 September. The switch makes Baku the second Saturday race on the 24-round calendar, alongside the Las Vegas Grand Prix slated for 21 November.
In the same announcement, the sport confirmed an expanded three-part pre-season testing programme totalling 11 running days as teams prepare for the next engine era. A five-day, closed-door session will be held at Spain’s Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from 26–30 January. Two public tests follow at Bahrain’s Sakhir circuit on 11–13 February and 18–20 February.
The early and extended testing window is intended to give teams additional time to learn the radically revised 2026 regulations, which introduce smaller, lighter chassis, active aerodynamics, increased electric power and 100% sustainable fuel. The season is due to start with the Australian Grand Prix on 8 March and conclude in Abu Dhabi on 6 December.
