Tether Unveils Open-Source Wallet Toolkit, Takes 32% Stake in Gold Royalty Firm Elemental Altus

Tether broadened its product suite on 10 June by introducing an open-source Wallet Development Kit, or WDK, that allows developers to create fully self-custodial wallets. The toolkit uses peer-to-peer swarms for node synchronisation and transaction broadcast and is designed to be completely configurable. Video platform Rumble said its planned Rumble Wallet will be built on the new architecture.

On 12 June the stable-coin issuer announced it had purchased roughly 78.4 million shares—about 31.9%—of Toronto-listed Elemental Altus and struck an option agreement for a further 34.4 million shares after October 2025. Tether said the investment in the gold royalty company is meant to strengthen its push into gold- and other hard-asset-backed financial infrastructure, complementing its bitcoin and stable-coin holdings.
