Rockstar Games said Friday that Grand Theft Auto VI will now launch on May 26, 2026, pushing the debut of the highly anticipated title back by roughly a year from the publisher’s previous target of fall 2025. The developer apologized for the delay, stating it needs additional time to deliver the “level of quality you expect and deserve.”
The news sent shares of parent company Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. tumbling as much as 16% in pre-market trading. Despite the sell-off, the company reiterated expectations for sequential growth and record net bookings in its fiscal years 2026 and 2027, and said it fully supports Rockstar’s decision, which it believes will allow the team to realize its creative vision for the blockbuster release.
