BlackRock Inc. has significantly increased its Bitcoin holdings, acquiring $356.2 million worth of the cryptocurrency on May 9, 2025. This purchase marks the 22nd consecutive day of positive inflows into BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF, with the firm now holding over 625,000 BTC valued at approximately $64.43 billion.
Goldman Sachs Group Inc. has also intensified its exposure to Bitcoin, boosting its stake in BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) by 28% to over 30.8 million shares, valued at more than $1.4 billion as of March 31, according to an SEC filing. Additionally, Goldman Sachs has invested $250 million in another Bitcoin-related fund, FBTC.
Japanese firm Metaplanet has escalated its Bitcoin accumulation, purchasing an additional 1,241 BTC for ¥18.4 billion ($126 million), bringing its total holdings to 6,796 BTC. This latest acquisition surpasses El Salvador's Bitcoin reserves, positioning Metaplanet as a significant player in the global Bitcoin market. The firm aims to reach 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025.
Michael Saylor, the executive chairman of MicroStrategy Inc., has hinted at further Bitcoin purchases, suggesting a strategy to acquire 10% of all Bitcoin. His comments have fueled speculation about the future trajectory of Bitcoin prices. Meanwhile, BlackRock's IBIT bought 10,572 Bitcoin this week, far exceeding the average 3,150 mined.

The Tokyo-listed firm added another 1,241 $BTC (~$126.7M), bringing its total to 6,796 BTC, now worth over $700M. They’re aiming for 10,000 BTC by year-end.
