Bezos Sells $737 Million Amazon Stake in First 2025 Share Sale

Amazon executive chairman Jeff Bezos disclosed the sale of about 3.3 million of the company’s shares for $736.7 million, according to regulatory filings published late Tuesday. The disposals were executed in two tranches on 27 June and 30 June at prices ranging from $221.11 to $223.76 a share.

The transactions are the first time this year that Bezos has sold Amazon stock and form part of a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan adopted in March. The arrangement allows the billionaire to offload as many as 25 million shares—roughly 2.5% of his current holding—through 29 May 2026.

Bezos, who stepped down as chief executive in 2021 but remains Amazon’s largest individual shareholder, still controls about 905 million shares after the latest sale. Last year he divested nearly $5 billion of stock. He has previously said proceeds from periodic sales help finance his space venture Blue Origin and philanthropic initiatives such as the Bezos Earth Fund and Day One Fund.

The filing shows the stock sales were completed days before and after Bezos married journalist Lauren Sánchez during a three-day ceremony in Venice, estimated by local media to have cost tens of millions of dollars.
