Vikings Cut Kene Nwangwu, Name Myles Gaskin as Kickoff Returner and Third Running Back

The Minnesota Vikings have confirmed that Myles Gaskin will take on the role of kickoff returner and serve as the team's third running back. General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Head Coach Kevin O'Connell emphasized that Gaskin possesses a more diverse skill set compared to Kene Nwangwu, who was cut as part of the team's roster decisions. O'Connell noted that Gaskin's capabilities extend beyond returning kicks, as he is also expected to contribute on special teams, including serving as a personal protector on punts and covering kickoffs. The decision to release Nwangwu was influenced by the potential roles envisioned for Gaskin in the new format, despite Nwangwu having a solid preseason as a runner.
