Sommerville, a four-star center signee, scored 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free-throw line. By halftime, he had already racked up 17 points. He also contributed eight rebounds, four blocks, and three assists, while helping his team establish a 21-12 lead in the first quarter. Rutgers' entire coaching staff, including Steve Pikiell, Marlon Williamson, and TJ Thompson, were present, having watched Sommerville win the opening tip and score immediately. Additionally, JeBron Harris demonstrated his shooting prowess with a 3-pointer. The Rutgers Men's Basketball team celebrated Sommerville's stats and the win on Twitter, and the RURiotSquad prepared a sign for the Rutgers commits. Sommerville's teammate Ace Bailey also had an impressive performance, combining with Sommerville for 68 points and 29 rebounds on the day.
