In a thrilling nonconference game, Florida Atlantic University (FAU) earned a hard-fought victory over Arizona. After trailing early in the game with Arizona leading 10-3 and later 35-31, FAU showcased their tenacity by overcoming a 14-point deficit. In the second half, FAU went on a 16-4 run to take a 45-41 lead. Oumar Ballo of Arizona dominated with 14 rebounds, but FAU's strategy, including a shift to five guards, helped them maintain the lead. Caleb Love of Arizona brought much-needed energy and scored key shots, but FAU held on to win in a double-overtime thriller, with a final lead of 96-95, solidifying their reputation as a strong contender after last year's Final Four appearance.
FAU lost to Illinois in NYC, but the Owls have beaten Arizona, Texas A&M, Butler, Virginia Tech and St. Bonaventure on a neutral court and Charleston and Liberty at home. This team has a legit shot to go back to the Final Four.
He can see the future! https://t.co/wYu0Lj8Bup
Love that Dusty May went five guards and switch everything. Such a smart strategy in a short clock situation. He coached a brilliant game.
Impressive win by Florida Atlantic against Arizona. If they roll through their conference, have a chance to get a really good NCAA seed
Caleb Love almost hit that shot, man. Wow. That was a fabulous game. One of the best we've seen.
Florida Atlantic-Arizona with Jason Benetti on the call was perfect hoops. The Owls are for real once again and they are damn good.
MAN was that close… but it’s a miss Caleb Love will live with taking the last shot any day What a freakin’ win by FAU https://t.co/fxzLBxtHeQ
FAU-Arizona pushing 100 apiece in double-OT? Seems fun.
Ah geez! Arizona has a chance to win it here. 96-95 FAU with 6.7 to go. 2OT. FOX.
This FAU - AZ game in Vegas is amazing. Not even college refs can ruin it
This game ends on a Caleb Love shot. Just unsure if it’ll be a make or miss
One of the best basketball games I remember watching in some time. This has been great.
CALEB LOVE HAS NO CONSCIENCE.
Florida Atlantic-Arizona is making me very happy
I know the Steelers are on but Arizona and FAU might be in the midst of the best basketball game of the season rn.
Overtime for Florida Atlantic-Arizona. Already one of the best games of the year. They’re battling.
Surprised that wasn’t Caleb Love time on final possession for Arizona. He seems to live for those opportunities.
caleb love's transfer to arizona has given him new life. his three just gave cats a 73-71 lead over FAU in Vegas. final minute
Caleb Love has never, ever met a shot he didn’t like. Just hit a HUGE one for Arizona. The dude is also fearless.
CALEB. LOVE. Big shot after big shot down the stretch today.
CALEB. LOVE. Big shot after big shot down the stretch todya.
On a day where Arizona has mostly looked sluggish, Caleb Love is bringing the energy.
Caleb Love bringing the energy that Arizona has needed. Love with a few buckets on the offensive end and also getting after it defensively. Arizona now up 3 on FAU with 4:16 left.
16-4 run to open the second half for FAU! Owls take a 6-point lead at the first media timeout of the second half.
FAU has come out in the second half on fire and the Owls are up 45-41 on Arizona in Vegas. Getting on the glass, and pushing it in transition for easy baskets.
Florida Atlantic was getting boat-raced by Arizona early on. Dusty May didn't call a timeout. Made his team power through. Now the Owls lead early in second half. Regardless of the ultimate result, this is a hell of a moment to reference the rest of the year.
When FAU was struggling early and looked overwhelmed by Arizona’s size, Dusty May stayed calm. Didn’t call timeout. Reason his team plays with such resolve. Long way to go but now up four on Arizona.
FAU's composure against Arizona has been impressive. These are two of the 5-10 most enjoyable teams to watch in college basketball.
FAU fought back from an early 14-point deficit and trails by 6 at the break against Arizona in Vegas. Oumar Ballo (14 boards) has absolutely dominated on the glass for the ‘Cats, but neither team has shot it well from deep. Love/Boswell: 2-10 from 3 Davis/Martin: 1-6 from 3
FAU: Last year was no fluke. Arizona leads the Owls, 35-31, late first half, give FAU coach Dusty May credit for upgrading the non-league sked, challenging themselves.
Florida Atlantic is just outworking Arizona the past few minutes. Wildcats look like they're just a bit foggy.
Arizona has much more energy than FAU right now. Wildcats lead 10-3 at the media timeout.

Temple trails ODU, 34-31, at halftime. The Owls had two fouls to give when they allowed ODU to run down the clock and shoot a three in the final seconds of the half. (It missed.) https://t.co/4xWOzq7luh
SMU on a 22-4 run in the second. Mustangs on top, 71-45 with 11:36 left in the contest. #PonyUpDallas | @SMUStatsInfo https://t.co/2WdWmwJ3hs
