Ford Motor Co. is recalling 200,061 vehicles in the United States after discovering a software defect that can cause rear-view cameras to display a blank or frozen image, heightening the risk of a crash. The notice was posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration under recall number 25S72.
The campaign covers 18 Ford and Lincoln models, including 2021-24 Bronco Sport, 2020-24 Explorer, 2019-20 F-150, 2022-24 Maverick and 2018-22 Transit Connect. Vehicles from the 2019-23 Ranger and Mustang lines and several Lincoln nameplates such as the 2020-23 Aviator are also involved.
Dealers will update the camera software at no cost to owners, who are slated to receive notification letters by July 28. Drivers can contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for further information.
