Several MLS academy teams are participating in the Generation adidas Cup (GACup), with the Philadelphia Union U17s and U15s advancing to the quarterfinals. The New York Red Bulls academy decided to withdraw from the tournament due to racist incidents. Players from the Red Bulls were subjected to racial abuse, leading to their exit from the competition. In response, MLS Next took action to investigate and suspend players involved in racial slurs, and implemented anti-discriminatory policies. The Philadelphia Union U17s showed support for the Red Bulls by wearing red wrist tape in their match against Hajduk Split.
