Aston Villa and Chelsea FC, two prominent English Premier League clubs, have reported significant financial losses for the 2022-23 season. Aston Villa disclosed a loss of £119.6 million, asserting their compliance with EPL financial regulations despite an initial report of a £120 million loss. This loss was attributed primarily to high wages and transfer fee costs, which amounted to £132 for every £100 earned by the club. Similarly, Chelsea FC announced a loss of £90.1 million for the same period, while its parent company, BlueCo 22, reported losses of £653 million from March 2022 to June 2023. Despite these substantial losses, Chelsea has stated its adherence to UEFA and Premier League financial rules. Southampton, another Premier League club, also suffered a significant loss of £70.5 million in the season they were relegated from the league.
