Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe, aged 47, was admitted to hospital on Friday after feeling unwell for several days, missing the team's Premier League match against Manchester United on Sunday. The club confirmed that Howe was hospitalized due to illness, with assistant manager Jason Tindall taking charge for the game. Newcastle secured a 4-1 victory over Manchester United, with goals from Sandro Tonali, Harvey Barnes (twice), and Bruno Guimaraes. Tindall mentioned that Howe, despite being in hospital, was able to watch the match and congratulated the team on their performance. Last month, Howe led Newcastle to their first domestic trophy in 70 years, winning the Carabao Cup against Liverpool. On Monday, Newcastle announced that Howe has been diagnosed with pneumonia and will miss the upcoming matches against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa. Assistant coaches Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will lead the team in his absence. Howe has taken charge of 165 matches for Newcastle, securing 84 wins, 36 draws, and 45 losses. Howe expressed gratitude for the support from fans and the medical care he is receiving from the NHS, stating his intention to return as soon as possible.
