Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks, not seen from Earth in over 70 years, has become a focal point for stargazers and astronomers alike. On March 31, 2024, the comet was observed and photographed, marking its close approach to Earth. The following nights, particularly on April 1, 2024, saw continued interest, with the comet appearing close to Hamal (Alpha Arietis) and Jupiter, and even experiencing a significant increase in brightness, making it potentially visible to the naked eye around 9pm. This celestial event coincides with April's solar eclipse, adding to the spectacle. Additionally, NASA's Ap41L.f001s probe captured new images from the surface of Comet Pons-Brooks, further contributing to the excitement within the astronomical community. The comet is expected to be near Jupiter from April 10-14, 2024, offering a unique observation opportunity, albeit with challenges due to its position on the western horizon. Stargazers are encouraged to look west with binoculars from around 9.15pm for the best views.

From 10-14 April Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks will appear its closest to Jupiter. Will be tricky to observe/photograph low on the murky western horizon.
Early reminder. Next Wednesday Comet Pons-Brooks, Jupiter, Uranus, and the Slivery Waxing Crescent Moon will appear very close together. Look west with binoculars from around 9.15pm.
I've seen a report that Comet Pons-Brooks is currently experiencing an outburst. Which indicates a significant increase in brightness. Worth looking out for. Might see with naked eye low to the west this evening.
Stargazers with their heads turned to watch April's solar eclipse could be treated to a rare celestial sighting: Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks, which hasn't been seen from Earth in over 70 years. https://t.co/rm4om27dQ7
Thank you for the likes and retweets for my Comet Pons-Brooks pictures. Cloudy tonight. Suspect sogginess later.
