In San Francisco, a controversial plan to build a new homeless shelter next to a children's park in the Tenderloin district has sparked frustration among locals. This area, known for its open drug markets, has seen recent improvements, but the proposed shelter's proximity to the park raises concerns about safety and the ongoing issue of drug exposure, including fentanyl, to children. Recent incidents, including a drug overdose at Moscone Park playground 'yesterday morning' where EMTs responded, and a sex offender camping by the playground with 'free fentanyl' signs, highlight the community's challenges. The decision to place the shelter next to one of the largest drug markets in America has been met with skepticism, despite the recognized need for more shelters in the city. Notably, a baby allegedly ingested fentanyl last year near the same location, and the shelter is planned for 'three vacant storefronts at 418-422'.
This is a tough one. I understand the need for shelter is paramount in San Francisco. But I also know that the Tenderloin is inundated with programs and shelters already. This isn't a NIMBY thing. It's a community frustrated thing. https://t.co/OlOd9YXz8E
Official World Peace Public Opinion Regarding The New San Francisco Homeless Shelter Next To The Children’s Playground and Fentanyl Bazzar… First of all, what a horrible title. What is happening in our country, America? Long story short, three vacant storefronts at 418-422… https://t.co/E1LDAjDgkH
Putting a homeless shelter literally next to the one of the largest open drug markets in America is going to have...challenges. Not so sure about this one. @beyondchron https://t.co/TQKXYlzzUU

Listen up America! Fentanyl is showing up on playgrounds… More info below ⬇️ https://t.co/KJa0wi2ry5
Yesterday morning there was a drug overdose inside Moscone Park playground. Moms and Nannies took their kids to the other side of the little playground while the EMTs worked on him yards away. This is not far from where a baby allegedly ingested fentanyl last year. @Stefani4CA
