San Francisco's How Weird Street Faire marked its 24th annual celebration as the longest-running electronic dance music event on the West Coast. The festival took over part of downtown San Francisco, attracting a diverse crowd with heavy bass, art cars, and an array of characters. The event, hosted by record label Empire, also featured Bay Area legends like Too Short and Mistah F.A.B. in a celebration of hip-hop's 50th anniversary. San Francisco supervisors are expected to approve legislation to make the car-free promenade on John Shelley Drive in McLaren Park permanent. The city is also working through noise management issues for the Portola Festival after concerns were raised by neighboring Alameda. Additionally, maps show which San Francisco blocks are hot spots for parking tickets.
