A group of starving and injured seabirds, primarily brown pelicans, were found along the California coast from Monterey to Santa Cruz starting in late April. These birds were taken into the care of International Bird Rescue. After weeks of rehabilitation, the first group of these rehabilitated pelicans was released back into the wild at Fort Baker in Sausalito on Thursday afternoon. This marks a significant milestone in the efforts to rescue and rehabilitate seabirds affected by starvation and injuries. In the North Bay, hundreds of these sea birds were found starving and have been receiving care.
