Residents are advised to stay hydrated, reduce time in the sun, wear light clothing, stay in a cool place, and check on the elderly, children, and pets. Additionally, the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) forecasts a persistent early summer heat wave in the interior West next week, with a 40 to 60% chance of excessive heat in the Central Valley from June 6 to 10. There is increasing confidence in this being the first heat wave of the year, despite uncertainties regarding its intensity and duration. Residents are also advised to wear sunscreen if outdoors this weekend.
