Federal, state, and local enforcement agencies are working together to crack down on drug markets in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood. The authorities are targeting low-level dealers and implementing on-the-spot arrests for some local drug dealers. Three categories of street dealers may now face federal charges. In the past four months, authorities have seized nearly 50 kilos of fentanyl and 12 kilos of methamphetamine from the streets of the Tenderloin. The federal officials hope that adding federal charges will discourage people from dealing drugs.
