The California Assembly celebrated Willie Brown Day, honoring former Assembly Speaker and 41st Mayor of San Francisco, Willie L. Brown Jr. Brown, who turned 90, was recognized for his extensive public service. The Assembly passed a resolution introduced by Assemblymember Lisa Calderon to designate the day in his honor. Brown is the longest serving Assembly Speaker. Lieutenant Governor and 2026 Gubernatorial candidate Eleni Kounalakis joined the celebration in Sacramento.
