A big rig fire on the Bay Bridge has caused significant disruptions, blocking multiple westbound lanes and leading to a massive traffic jam. The incident occurred on the westbound eastern span of the bridge, just before the tunnel entrance. The fire department has blocked the four right lanes, leaving only the left lane open. The truck driver managed to detach the truck from the trailer engulfed in flames and drove off, preventing further escalation. Photos from the scene, provided by Caltrans, show the extent of the fire and the ongoing efforts by the San Francisco Fire Department to control it. The incident has affected traffic between Oakland and San Francisco.
