Several incidents of vandalism and theft have occurred in the San Francisco Bay Area. An ATM was ripped out and smashed at a Walgreens store in San Francisco's Mission District, leaving the sliding door and glass smashed. Another Starbucks in Oakland was completely vandalized. Additionally, a Subway in Oakland was also vandalized. In response, Palo Alto police plan to deploy a three-man retail theft team in the city's downtown and at the Stanford Shopping Center, following a $5.2 million grant received by the department.
