Moscow and Beijing said they would strengthen military cooperation, expand use of national currencies, and intensify coordination in multilateral fora such as the UN, SCO and BRICS. They urged other nations to drop sanctions and military pressure on North Korea and promised to play an active role in resolving the Iranian nuclear issue and broader Middle East tensions. Kremlin officials say leaders from about 29 countries will attend the Victory Day events, a turnout Moscow hopes will underscore that Russia is not isolated internationally. Xi’s presence, alongside talks on new economic and security initiatives, signals deepening alignment between the two permanent UN Security Council members at a time of heightened confrontation with the United States and its allies.
