Russia to Deliver Remaining Two S-400 Squadrons to India by 2026-27, Su-30MKI Upgrades Included

Russia has confirmed it will deliver the remaining two squadrons of the S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile systems to India by 2026-2027. This follows delays attributed to the ongoing war in Ukraine, which postponed the originally scheduled deliveries by late 2023. India has already deployed three S-400 regiments along its borders with Pakistan and China, where the systems played a key role during Operation Sindoor against Pakistan last month. The S-400, rechristened by India as Sudarshan Chakra, serves as the country's sole long-range air defense system. The delivery commitment was reaffirmed during recent talks between Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Russian Defence Minister Andrey Belousov, including discussions on upgrades to India's Su-30MKI fighter jets and potential future missile purchases. The original contract signed in 2018 was valued at nearly $5.5 billion for five S-400 systems.
