World Rugby has approved a new Nations Championship tournament starting in 2026. The tournament will include the Six Nations, Rugby Championship teams, Japan, and Fiji in the top division, while the 13th to 24th ranked teams will play in a second-tier competition. The approval came with a narrow majority of 41 votes to 10. Additionally, World Rugby has confirmed major changes to the men's and women's international rugby calendars.
