Zhou Guanyu caused the second red flag in the third practice session (FP3) of the Canadian Grand Prix after spinning and hitting the barriers at Turn 1. The incident halted the session briefly, but Zhou emerged unscathed from his car. Both Mercedes drivers, who were on Medium tires, had their runs interrupted by the red flag. The session resumed shortly after the trackside marshals quickly cleared the track. There were just over 50 minutes left in the session when it resumed.
