NASCAR has announced plans for safety improvements at Daytona International Speedway after the Daytona 500, which include paving over larger portions of grass on the backstretch and in Turn 3, particularly on the driver's right when using the chicane, following Ryan Preece's crash. The work, which follows some initial paving done after the Rolex 24, will also involve the removal of rumble strips at the Glen bus stop and the addition of a rumble area in Turn 1 at the Glen where drivers commonly go wide. A concrete pad will be added to provide future options.
